The Group's results for the first three quarters were particularly affected by the “Boris” storm in September, and gross damages for which were paid in the amount of EUR 184 million. UNIQA currently estimates that the total gross damage caused by this event will amount to EUR 230 million and around EUR 86 million net after reinsurance.
Andreas Brandstetter, CEO of UNIQA Insurance Group AG, pointed out that despite the huge damage caused by floods in Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, the Group achieved a solid result thanks to the company's consistent strategy, which enabled UNIQA Group's strong position in key markets and significantly increased resistance of the technical result to negative factors. The key aspects are profitable business growth in Central and Eastern Europe and strong sales results throughout the Group, the company said in its press release.
