The Czech insurance market ended the third quarter of 2024 with GWP worth CZK 173.64 billion (EUR 6.89 billion), up by 7.9% y-o-y, according to the end-September figures published by the Czech National Bank (CNB).
For the life segment, the GWP value (including reinsurance) decreased by 6.74% to CZK 43.25 billion, while the aggregate GWP related to non-life subclasses totaled at the end of September 2024 about CZK 130.4 billion (up by 8.3% y-o-y).
Claims paid by local insurers totaled CZK 107.44 billion (EUR 4.26 billion) down by 32% y-o-y, of which CZK 80.37 billion related to non-life insurance, the remaining CZK 27.06 billion being related to life insurance subclasses. Claims paid for property insurance increased dramatically, by over 173%, to CZK 31.41 billion (EUR 1.25 billion) under the impact of the September floods.
