STATISTICS: Slovak Rep: Insurers Q1 profits expanded by 55% y-o-y to EUR 51.59 m
In the first three months of 2021, the Slovak insurance market totaled EUR 601 million, 4.4% less y-o-y, according to the quarterly financial figures published by the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS).

Generali Ceska pojistovna to merge with Generali Slovakia
Generali CEE Holding announced the merger of its Czech and Slovak units: Generali Ceska pojistovna and Generali Slovakia. Generali in Slovakia will operate as a branch of Generali Ceska pojistovna, under the name Generali Poistovna, a branch of an insurance company from another Member State.

SLOVAKIA: ACHMEA to acquire POSTOVA Poistovna
The Dutch financial group ACHMEA announced is expanding its presence on Slovak insurance market by the acquisition of POSTOVA Poistovna after its local subsidiary - UNION and the shareholders of POSTOVA Poistovna - POSTOVA Banka and SLOVENSKA POSTA - had reached agreement on the transaction.

The Slovak market finished the first semester of 2019 with a GWP volume of EUR 1,166 million (+2.6%), paid claims and benefits amounting to EUR 697 million (+7.1%) and a net profit at market level of EUR 68 million (-21.5%). Life sector held a share of 43.2% in total GWP, while the rest of 56.2% of GWP was brought by non-life business lines.
