CROATIA: Over 84% of premiums collected in January-April generated by non-life

The total premium collected in the first four months of 2026 amounted to EUR 715.2 million, or 7.4% more y-o-y. Of this, EUR 111.1 million (15.5%) came from life insurance (+4.1%), and EUR 604.1 million or 84.5% came from non-life (+8.1%), osiguranje.hr writes with reference to HANFA’s (Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency) report.

In the structure of non-life insurance, the most represented segment is motor vehicle liability insurance (34.0%), followed by road vehicle insurance (20.4%), health insurance (9.6%) and fire and natural disaster insurance (9.5%).

Total paid claims in the first four months of 2026 amounted to EUR 428.7 million, which is 6.8% more y-o-y. Of this amount, life insurance accounted for EUR 117.2 million (27.3%), which is 4.4% less on an annual basis, and non-life insurance accounted for EUR 311.5 million (72.7%), which is 11.7% more y-o-y.

In the total amount of claims paid in non-life insurance, the largest amounts relate to motor vehicle liability insurance (40.2%), road vehicle insurance (21.3%), health insurance (11.5%), and fire and natural disaster insurance (8.5%).
