On October 1, Uzbekistan completed the phased rollout of its state health insurance system across all regions of the country, according to Sayyora Shoeva, head of the information service at the State Health Insurance Fund.

The Fund notes that the new approach ties funding not to the maintenance of a medical facility itself, but to the outcomes of the medical services provided. Participation in the system is open to both state-run and non-state medical organizations that meet established requirements.

Between January and September of this year, the Fund disbursed over UZS 27.1 trillion to medical organizations.
