GREECE: EAEE: Explosive rise in cyber insurance from 2022 to 2025

A spectacular increase in the number of cyber ​​insurance policies from 2022 to 2025 is found in the new study by the Association of Insurance Companies of Greece, based on data from eight insurance companies operating in the sector, insuranceworld.gr wrote.

Specifically, the contracts in force increased from 32 thousand in 2022 to 398 thousand in 2025, reflecting a rapid growth of this specific category of insurance coverage in the Greek market. Thus, the total amount of maximum coverage funds for cyber ​​contracts saw a significant rise during the same period, reaching EUR 3.95 billion in 2025, compared to EUR 1.54 billion in 2022.

On the claims side, the number of reported incidents related to cyber ​​insurance gradually increased during the period under review, reaching 653 reported damages in 2025 from 35 cases in 2022. Most incidents were associated with the activation of coverages related to financial losses or business interruption. Total compensation paid for the mentioned losses amounted to EUR 263.7 thousand in 2025, while the reserve of outstanding losses at the end of the same year was EUR 462.7 thousand, the source said.
