The Armenian insurance sector grew by 17.08% in 2025, reaching AMD 84.73 billion (EUR 188.72 million). Paid claims rose by 11.53%, to AMD 48.91 billion (EUR 108.95 million). This enabled the annual net profit trend to shift from a decline to significant growth, according to data of the Financial Rating of Insurance Companies provided by ArmInfo.
A significant increase in MTPL rates since February 2025 has enabled insurance companies to significantly improve their operating efficiency and achieve significant profits. Active (mandatory) sales of MTPL policies and seasonal inactivity in paid claims in the segment have improved the overall profit and loss picture of the insurance sector in general.
As expected, the highest share of premiums collected by companies remains with MTPL (41%) and health insurance (about 30%). Of the other insurance classes, property insurance (over 10%) and Motor Hull (8.46%) have noticeable shares.
It’s worth noting that MTPL (49.7%) and health insurance (39.2%) also lead in paid claims.
The insurance sector's equity accelerated from 7% to 14%, reaching USD 80.1 million, thanks to a 34% increase in accumulated profit (compared to 3% in 2024).
Among 7 insurance companies, operating in the country, Nairi Insurance led in terms of GWP (AMD 14.60 billion), also ranking first in paid claims. Following closely behind in terms of GWP was INGO (AMD 13.78 billion), while Efes (AMD 13.33 billion) ranked third. LIGA Insurance, the previous leader in terms of GWP, fell to fourth place.
