Hosted by UCI – Ufficio Centrale Italiano (Italian Green Card Bureau), the event welcomed delegates from the 43 Green Card Bureaux and the Compensation Bodies, Guarantee Funds and Information Centres that form the Green Card System, representing 47 countries.
During the Assembly, delegates representing the national bureaux addressed key challenges and opportunities facing the sector, including victim protection, uninsured driving, fraud prevention, future mobility, micromobility, digitalization, data exchange, artificial intelligence, claims handling and governance. Throughout the discussions and decisions, participants remained guided by the same objective that has inspired the Green Card System and compulsory motor third-party liability (MTPL) insurance for decades: ensuring that citizens can move across borders with confidence while maintaining robust protection for road traffic victims.
The incoming Managing Director, Fabio Gamba, presented his trategic vision for COB, while COB Managing Director Greet Floré addresses her final General Assembly before her upcoming retirement.
One of the featured presentations was delivered by Alain Gabreau, Chair of the COB IT Committee, who reviewed the work completed by the IT Committee during the past year and the ongoing initiatives supporting the digitalization of the Green Card System.
Delegations from the member organizations described the General Assembly as an important opportunity to strengthen professional relationships across the Green Card network, exchange experience on operational and regulatory issues, discuss the future development of international motor insurance cooperation, as ell as reaffirm the common objective of ensuring efficient compensation for victims of cross-border road traffic accidents.
The General Assembly also provided an opportunity for bilateral and multilateral cooperation initiatives. During the event, for example, the National Insurance Bureau of North Macedonia and the Information Centre of Bosnia and Herzegovina signed a cooperation agreement aimed at improving the exchange of insurance information related to road traffic accidents involving citizens of the two countries.
The Venice meeting marked another milestone in the history of the organisation, as delegates celebrated the 60th edition of the COB General Assembly while reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening the Green Card System in an increasingly digital and interconnected environment.
