AZERBAIJAN: Voluntary and compulsory insurance rise in January-August

Voluntary insurance in Azerbaijan totaled AZN 798.21 million (~EUR 401.11 million) in January-August, according to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, which indicates a 15.2% y-o-y increase, ABC.AZ reports.

Paid claims in voluntary insurance for the reporting period totaled AZN 510.73 million, which is 23.2% more y-o-y.

Compulsory insurance in January-August reached AZN 249.86 million (~EUR 125.55 million), which is 6.3% more than in January-August 2024. Compulsory insurance paid claims totaled AZN 92.67 million, recording an 8.4% y-o-y increase.

Compared to the same months of 2024, GWP of 4 out of 16 Azerbaijan's insurance companies decreased in January-August 2025, while other 12 companies increased their business volume, ABC.AZ writes, citing a statement from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

The largest GWP growth was recorded by Meqa Həyat Sığorta (+79%), while İpək Yolu Sığorta saw the largest decline (-15%), the source added.
