RRSA has placed a Czech motor insurance subsidiary in run-off, which will add a £10mn restructuring charge to the group's half-year result.

Direct Pojistovna generated net written premiums of around £12mn in 2011 but RSA group CEO Simon Lee said the company did not think it could achieve profitable scale in the business within a reasonable timeframe.

The business has gone into run-off with immediate effect, but Lee said this would not impact existing customers.
