LITHUANIA: Insurance market grows by 13.4% in January

Lithuania's insurance market went up by 13.4% in January 2013 as compared to previous year's corresponding month, Lithuanian business portal Verslo Zinios reports on February 20, 2013, writes LETA/ELTA.

on-life insurance services providing companies in January signed insurance agreements worth LTL 122.7 million (EUR 35.5 million) in January, which was 15.1% more than in January last year, at the same time last year LTL 106.7 million (EUR 30.9 million) premiums were received. Life insurance market in January increased by nearly nine% - from LTL 39.1 million (EUR 11.3 million) in the first month last year to LTL 42.6 million (EUR 12.3 million) this year.

In January, the insurers registered in Lithuania had to pay out LTL 128 million (EUR 37 million) in benefits, while in January last year their outcoming insurance payments amounted to LTL 87.1 million (EUR 25.2 million).
