CROATIA: In January-July insurance market rises almost 7%

In the first seven months of this year Croatia-based insurers reported overall collected premiums of EUR 1.3 billion, up 6.9% on the year, SeeNews writes.

Non-life insurance increased by 7.3%, to EUR 1.1 billion in January-July, according to the Croatia's financial regulator, Hanfa, while life insurance was 4.9% more on the year, at EUR 205.9 million.

Motor vehicle liability insurance had the largest share, 34.1% of the total non-life premiums paid, followed by insurance of road vehicles (20.6%), insurance against fire and natural disasters (9.5%) and health insurance (9.1%).

Total amount of settled claims in the period under review stood at EUR 762.1 million, 9% more y-o-y. Claims related to life insurance stood at 26% of all settled claims.
