EIOPA appoints two members of the IRSG

The Board of Supervisors of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) appointed two new members with immediate effect and for the current mandate of the IRSG.

The newly appointed are Liane HIRNER (Vienna Insurance Group, Austria), replacing Jana HERBOCZKOVA in the category "industry", and Desislav DANOV (Fintechguardian, Bulgaria), which replaces Giampaolo PETRI in the category "consumers".

HIRNER became a member of the Managing Board of Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) in February 2018. In her current role as a Group Chief Financial Officer of VIG her main areas of responsibility include Finance and Accounting. HIRNER started her professional career at PwC Paris in 1992. In 1993 she moved to PwC Vienna to work in Financial Services with a focus on insurance. From 2009 until 2017 she was a partner at PwC Austria, where she headed the insurance department. HIRNER is a tax advisor in Austria since 1997 and a certified auditor since 2001.

DANOV started working in the insurance industry back in 1998 when he first joined the "State insurance institute - DZI". He moved further on as freelance insurance agent, senior underwriter in "Armeec" JSC, head of external projects for the insurance broker "ZBK Balkan" and lot more. He also gained experience as trainee in insurance software provider. In 2009 he joined the Insurance Supervision Department of the Financial Supervision Commission of Bulgaria where he remained till 2012. Since 2013 DANOV became active in multiple civic initiatives aimed at protection of financial services users.
