Aegon CEO, Lard Friese, was appointed Chair of the global association for insurance companies at its spring 2026 board meeting on June 3, the Geneva Association announced, Aegon said on its website.
According to the press release, having served as Vice Chair of the Geneva Association since November 2024, Lard Friese succeeds outgoing Chair Lee Yuan Siong, Group Chief Executive & President of AIA. Lee Yuan Siong will remain on the board following completion of his term as Chair.
Lard Friese will continue to combine his voluntary role at the Geneva Association alongside his responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of Aegon’s Executive Committee.

It is a privilege to succeed him as Chair of the Geneva Association, an organization that plays such an important role in shaping the understanding of global risk and resilience”, said Lard Friese. “At a time of heightened uncertainty, fragmentation, and interconnected risks, the industry’s collective insight and evidence-based research are more important than ever”, he added.
The Geneva Association members are insurance and reinsurance CEOs. The association investigates key risk areas that are likely to impact the insurance industry, develops recommendations and provides a platform for stakeholders to discuss them. In total, the company members of the Geneva Association are headquartered in 26 countries around the world; manage USD 21 trillion in assets; employ more than 2.5 million people; and protect 2.6 billion people.
On June 10, Aegon Ltd.'s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) approved the extension of Lard Friese’s term as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer until the end of the 2030 AGM, and the appointment of Leni Boeren to the Board of Directors.
