In the first half of 2025, the insurance market of Belarus amounted to BYN 1,414.81 million (EUR 407.30 million), which is 11.59% more y-o-y in local currency, as data published by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Belarus show.
Insurers collected BYN 961.0 million in voluntary insurance (including imputed insurance) during the period under review. The share of voluntary insurance on the market has remained almost unchanged at 67.9%. In the structure of voluntary insurance, the largest shares are personal insurance (43.3%) and property insurance (46.6%).
Mandatory insurance in the first half of 2025 reached BYN 453.8 million, and its share in the market portfolio is 32.1%. In the structure of mandatory insurance, the largest classes are personal insurance (44.8%) and liability insurance (48.6%).
Total paid claims in the first half of 2025 amounted to BYN 794.34 million (EUR 228.68 million), which is 13.63% more y-o-y. The share of voluntary insurance in total paid claims is BYN 530.6 million or 66.8%, while for mandatory classes insurers paid BYN 263.7 million (33.2%).
The ratio of payments in the total GWP at the end of 1H slightly increased to 56.1% (vs 1H2024 - 55.1%).
