VIG Re, the reinsurance company of Vienna Insurance Group, is pleased to announce that Tobias SONNDORFER has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors with effect of February 1, 2024.

In addition to his role as Vice-Chairman, Tobias SONNDORFER will also assume the position of Chairman of the company's Executive Committee next to his current responsibilities, such as the coordination of VIG Re’s strategy and the acceleration of its digitalization efforts, the business responsibility for Intragroup cessions and the Company’s outgoing reinsurance.

Mr. Tobias SONNDORFER is a seasoned reinsurance professional, boasting over 17 years of expertise in financial services and the reinsurance sector. Commencing his role as a Member of the Board of Directors at VIG Re on January 1, 2023, he swiftly ascended to Vice-Chairman on February 1, 2024. In this role, Tobias is entrusted with a range of responsibilities, notably overseeing company strategy coordination, and taking the lead in driving digital transformation initiatives.

Previously he worked at Munich Re including a notable position as Client Management Executive, overseeing regions such as CEE, SEE, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg. With a decade of experience at Munich Re, Tobias held key managerial roles in both traditional and non-traditional reinsurance solutions with a strong international focus. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior consultant at PWC in Germany. A graduate of OTH Regensburg in Germany, Tobias SONNDORFER is also a certified CFA charter holder.
