The World Bank, which is assisting the Albanian government regarding the pension reform, has signaled that the increase of the retirement age could be one of the best options to tackle the problem.

Indermit Gill Chief Economist of the Europe and Central Asia Region of the World Bank recommended the increase of the retirement age parallel with the increase of life expectancy during a conference also attended by Albania's Minister of Finances Ridvan Bode, local media reports. Gill also declared that the Albanian government has to be cautious regarding the high level of public debt and should take measures to lower it.
