In 1Q2026, Kyrgyzstan's insurance sector amounted to KGS 2,516.89 million (EUR 25.04 million), which is 61.53% more y-o-y, according to data published by the Service for regulation and supervision of the financial market of Kyrgyzstan. Total paid claims rose by 48.76% to KGS 475.04 million (EUR 4.73 million).
Insurance companies concluded over 735,000 insurance contracts in January-March 2026, which is 18% more than in 1Q2025. This growth is driven by an increase in the number of MTPL contracts (by 68,500 units) and voluntary personal accident and illness insurance (by 26,000 units), according to the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic. Voluntary insurance accounted for 72% of the total number of contracts concluded, while mandatory insurance accounted for 28%.
As of April 1, 2026, total insured amount exceeded KGS 852 billion, doubling compared to the same date last year.
From January to March of this year, 10,300 insurance claims were recorded, of which more than 49% were for voluntary personal accident and illness insurance. The bulk of claims were paid in voluntary property insurance (KGS 146 million) and MTPL (KGS 178 million).
Insurance company revenues in the first quarter of 2026 increased 1.4-fold compared to the same period last year, reaching KGS 2.9 billion. More than 87% of the total revenue came from insurance premiums.
At the end of the reporting period, 11 insurance companies posted a profit, while 6 companies posted a loss. Net profit amounted to KGS 80.5 million, a 26% decrease compared to the first quarter of 2025.
Among the 16 insurers active in the market in the first quarter of 2026, Kyrgyzstan Insurance Company led in terms of GWP (~16% market share), followed by Dordoy Insurance (~13%), and NSK (10.32%).
