POLAND: PBUK: foreign drivers cause about 3% of accidents and collisions on Polish roads
In 2021, drivers of vehicles with foreign registration numbers caused 12.8 thousand accidents and collisions, according to the data of the Polish Motor Insurers' Bureau (PBUK). This was almost at the same level as a year before, but nearly a quarter less than two years ago, Gazeta Ubezpieczeniowa reports.

POLAND: The number of psychological and psychiatric consultations is growing under the pressure of health and social insecurity
More and more Poles are reaching for the help of psychologists and psychiatrists. According to the data of Polish health insurer TU Zdrowie, the number of consultations provided in the first half of 2022 increased by almost 40% compared to the same period of the previous year.

On July 18, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) published the final version of its recommendations regarding claim settlement in motor insurance. This will replace the ones adopted in December 2014. It is expected that the recommendations will be applied by insurance companies no later than November 1, 2022, Gazeta Ubezpieczeniowa reports.
POLAND: MTPL prices saw the largest reduction since 2018
In the first half of 2022 the Polish market saw the largest reduction in MTPL prices since 2018. The average premium decreased by as much as 14.8% y-o-y to PLN 524 (EUR 111.72*). The average MTPL price is now 3% lower than the rate in the first half of 2016, Gazeta Ubezpieczeniowa reports.
Two thirds of Poles choose home insurance considering the scope and price of the policy
The scope of insurance policy (68% of respondents), price (67%) and the sum insured (47%), are the first three criteria used by Poles when acquiring home insurance, a study carried out by SW Research on behalf of Wiener shows. The insurance company's reputation is only important for 30% of respondents.
POLAND: Social costs of road traffic accidents fell by a third
According to the latest data compiled by the National Road Safety Council operating at the Ministry of Infrastructure, costs of all traffic accidents in Poland in 2021 amounted to PLN 39.3 billion (~EUR 8.56 billion*). The social costs of accidents in the country decreased by 31%, to PLN 17.3 billion compared to 2018, when it reached PLN 56.6 billion, Gazeta Ubezpieczeniowa reports.
STATISTICS: POLAND 1Q2022: GWP worth ~EUR 4 billion vs. paid claims of EUR 2.5 billion
Polish insurance market reported Q1 2022 aggregate GWP worth PLN 18.14 billion (EUR 3.9 billion), 2.89% more y-o-y according to the quarterly statistics published by Polish KNF (Financial Supervision Authority). At the same time, claims and benefits paid by local insurers increased by 12.82% y-o-y to PLN 11.53 billion (~EUR 2.5 billion) from PLN 10.24 billion a year before.
