STATISTICS: UKRAINE, 1H2026: Paid claims rise 2.6 times faster than premiums

Ukraine's insurance market grew by 16.41% in the first half of 2026, reaching UAH 38.70 billion (EUR 756.41 million). Non-life insurance generated over 92% of the total. Paid claims increased by 43.32% to approximately UAH 17.42 billion (EUR 340.41 million), according to data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

UKRAINE: TAS Group ratings affirmed at uaAA+

The rating agency IBI-Rating has affirmed the TAS Group’s long-term credit rating on the national scale at uaAA+ with a stable outlook, Forinsurer reports. The agency also affirmed the Group’s financial strength rating at uaAA+ifr.









UKRAINE: Positive result in life insurance comes from investment income, while the bulk of premiums in property insurance - from legal entities

According to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), in the first quarter of 2026, 10 life insurers increased their assets, insurance premiums, and significantly improved their financial results. At the same time, the revenue structure shows that investment activities remain the key source of profitability, while insurance activities remain less profitable, Forinsurer reports.



STATISTICS: UKRAINE, 1Q2026: Motor insurance is leading in both GWP and paid claims

Ukraine's insurance market grew by 17.56% to UAH 18.11 billion (EUR 360.04 million/+4.56%) in the first quarter of 2026. Non-life insurance generated almost 92% of this total. Total paid claims jumped by 46.02%, reaching UAH 8.47 billion (EUR 168.40 million/+29.86%), according to data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).



UKRAINE: PZU acquires Ukrainian life insurance leader

Polish insurance company PZU SA has entered into an agreement to acquire MetLife, the Ukrainian life insurance market leader, from the American MetLife Global Holding Company. The transaction is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals and, according to the company, is expected to be completed in 2027, Forinsurer reports.
