UKRAINE: NBU launches project for full Solvency II implementation in the insurance market
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) held its first meeting with insurers, industry associations, and the actuarial community as part of the "Solvency II Implementation in Ukraine" project. The project was launched on August 12, 2026, and the initial meeting with insurance market participants took place on September 18.
STATISTICS: UKRAINE, 1H2026: Paid claims rise 2.6 times faster than premiums
Ukraine's insurance market grew by 16.41% in the first half of 2026, reaching UAH 38.70 billion (EUR 756.41 million). Non-life insurance generated over 92% of the total. Polish insurance company PZU SA has entered into an agreement to acquire MetLife, the Ukrainian life insurance market leader, from the American MetLife Global Holding Company.
