The Board of Supervisors of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) elected on December 2nd three new members of EIOPA's Management Board:- Julia CILLIKOVA, Director of the Regulation Department of the National Bank of Slovakia;
- Frank GRUND, Chief Executive Director of the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin);
- Misu NEGRITOIU, President of the Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority.
Gabriel BERNARDINO, Chairman of EIOPA, said: "I am warmly welcoming the new Management Board members and wish them much success with their significant new tasks. At the same time I am thanking cordially the departing members - Felix Hufeld, Jan Parner and Sergej Simoniti - for their strong commitment and highly valuable contribution to the work of the Management Board in the past years in building a modern, efficient and credible European supervisory authority.
The Management Board of EIOPA is composed of the Chairman of EIOPA and six other members of the Board of Supervisors, elected by and from the voting members of the Board of Supervisors. It ensures that EIOPA carries out its mission and performs the tasks assigned to it.
The term of office of the Management Board members is 2.5 years with the possibility to be extended once. Mandates of the members should be overlapping in order to ensure appropriate rotation and business continuity.
