GREECE: The number of homes insured against catastrophic events rise by 3.1% in the first quarter

According to a quarterly survey on home insurance conducted by the Association of Insurance Companies of Greece (AAEE), the percentage of insurance coverage in the country amounts to 20.8%, with the participation of 25 insurance companies in the survey, covering 98.5% of the property insurance segment, insuranceworld.gr wrote.

The survey also revealed that the number of residences with insurance coverage amounted to 1,202,245, an increase of 1.5% compared to the survey d/d December 31, 2025, therefore the country's insurance coverage rate (building insurance policies) amounts to 18.2%.

At the same time, homes insured against extreme weather and earthquakes recorded an increase of 3.1% compared to December 31. This resulted in their share in the total number of building insurance policies increasing to 72.6% from 71.5% on December 31, 2025.
