The data show that more than 31.2 million MTPL policies were active at the end of March 2026. During the quarter, injured parties reported over 263,000 claims, including more than 11,000 bodily injury cases. Total MTPL claims payments reached PLN 3.2 billion, of which over PLN 406 million related to personal injuries.
The analysis also highlights a shift in accident patterns. Road incidents generating MTPL claims occurred most frequently on Mondays, accounting for 17.9% of all reported claims, while Sundays recorded the lowest share (6.6%). In 2025, Fridays had been the day with the highest number of reported MTPL losses.
The voluntary Motor Hull (AC) segment continued its steady expansion. At the end of the first quarter, more than 8.3 million AC policies were in force, resulting in an AC-to-MTPL ratio of 26.7%, confirming the ongoing upward trend in casco penetration.
Nearly 220,000 AC claims were reported during the quarter, with insurers paying close to PLN 2.5 billion in compensation. Similar to the MTPL segment, Mondays recorded the highest number of reported AC losses (19.2%), while Sundays remained the quietest day, accounting for only 8.9% of claims.
The figures underline both the continued growth of Poland's motor insurance market and the increasing claims burden faced by insurers amid rising repair and compensation costs.
