SERBIA: Consolidated net profit of Serbia's Dunav Osiguranje rises 31% in the first half of the year

Serbian insurer Dunav Osiguranje’s consolidated net profit rose by 31% on the year in the first half of 2026 to RSD 3.9 billion (EUR 33 million).

The insurer’s consolidated income from insurance premiums increased by 9.2% year-on-year to RSD 21.6 billion, while its income from reinsurance premiums ticked up 0.5% to RSD 2.5 billion, according to the company’s consolidated financial statement for the period.

Total consolidated operating revenue rose by an annual 6.5% to RSD 25.7 billion in the review period, while operating costs fell by 8.4% to RSD 17.1 billion.

At the same time, profits generated from investing insurance funds soared 36.6% on the year to RSD 1.5 billion, while insurance expenses, net of reinsurance and retrocession commissions, rose by 3.7% to RSD 6.1 billion.

It is noted that Dunav Osiguranje has five subsidiaries in Serbia: reinsurer Dunav Re, vehicle inspection firms Dunav Auto and Dunav Auto Logistika, pension insurer Dunav, and Dunav Stockbroker. It also has two subsidiaries in Bosnia's Serb Republic entity - Dunav Osiguranje Banja Luka and Dunav Auto Banja Luka.

In the first half of 2026, all subsidiaries operated at a profit, except for Dunav Auto Logistika and Dunav Stockbroker. The biggest contributor to the consolidated net profit was Dunav Osiguranje with RSD 2.36 billion.

At the end of the first quarter of 2026, Dunav Osiguranje was the largest insurer by premium income in Serbia, followed by Generali and the local arm of Italy's UnipolSai - DDOR, and the second largest in terms of total assets after Generali, according to the most recent data available from the central bank. Serbia's government owns 76.7% of Dunav Osiguranje.
