Armenia's insurance sector generated AMD 41.93 billion (EUR 99.96 million) in the first half of 2026, up only 1.10% y-o-y. However, in euros, market growth was significantly higher (+8.66%). Paid claims in local currency increased by 8.73%, reaching AMD 23.31 billion (EUR 55.59 million), according to data from the Financial Rating of Insurance Companies provided to ArmInfo.
Almost all insurance segments recorded premium growth in the first half of the year, except for health insurance (-34.67%) and property insurance against fire and allied perils (-18.05%). Motor insurance is the largest market segment, with its share growing to almost 56%.
Net profit in the insurance market in the first half of 2026 increased by 71.4%, reaching AMD 3.3 billion (USD 9.1 million). And this significant growth is the result of tariff increases a year ago, which led to a rise in premiums and payments, according to the Financial Rating of Armenian Insurance Companies as of June 30, 2026, prepared by ArmInfo.
In terms of net profit for the first half of the year, Armenia Insurance took the lead (AMD 766.3 million, up from third place a year ago). Nairi Insurance ranked second, with a net profit of AMD 718.7 million, followed by INGO with AMD 651.8 million.
Among the seven insurance companies operating in the market, Nairi Insurance (AMD 7.62 billion) ranked first GWP-wise, pushing Efes into second place (AMD 6.54 billion), while LIGA Insurance (AMD 6.39 billion) ranked third.
