Tajik insurance market in 1Q2026 amounted to TJS 120.50 million (EUR 10.92 million), an increase of 5.33% y-o-y in local currency. Market paid claims totaled TJS 9.30 million (EUR 0.84 million), which is 35.90% less according to the National Bank's report.

In the first quarter of 2026, insurance market assets stood at TJS 1,217.2 million, up 22.6% from the same period last year. Insurance assets accounted for 1.8% of the country's total financial assets and 0.7% of GDP during this period. Insurers' liabilities totaled TJS 399.0 million, a 9.3% increase y-o-y. The sector's equity (capital) reached TJS 817.7 million in the first quarter of 2026, up 30.2%; this growth was driven primarily by increases in charter capital and retained earnings. Insurers' charter capital stood at TJS 535.2 million in 1Q, an increase of 3.8% y-o-y.

Between January and March 2026, the total number of insurance contracts concluded was 606.7 thousand units, a 0.1% decrease y-o-y. In the first quarter, total volume of risks accepted for reinsurance amounted to TJS 77.5 billion (-29.4%). Consequently, the risks ceded to reinsurance as of the reporting date stood at TJS 59.2 billion (-36.0%). The amount of premiums ceded to reinsurance within the insurance system totaled TJS 20.5 million (-0.3%).

Insurance reserves increased significantly during the reporting period, reaching TJS 352.6 million; this represents a 29.2% increase y-o-y. For the first three months of 2026, the insurance sector's net profit amounted to TJS 61.7 million, up 29.9% y-o-y.

Profitability of the country's insurance system in the first quarter of 2026 averaged 5.1% for return on assets (ROA) and 7.5% for return on equity (ROE), representing increases of 0.3 and 0.1 percentage points, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

The insurance market in Tajikistan in 1H2026 amounted to TJS 228.10 million (EUR 21.58 million), which is 9.35% more y-o-y. Total paid claims amounted to TJS 15.60 million (EUR 1.48 million), decreasing by 60.20% y-o-y in local currency, as data from the National Bank report shows.

As of June 30, 2026, the assets of insurers amounted to TJS 1,268.4 million, an increase of 25.2% y-o-y. The share of insurance sector assets in the total assets of the country's financial system during this period was 1.8%, and their ratio to GDP was 0.7%.

As of the reporting date, the balance sheet liabilities of re/insurance organizations amounted to TJS 389.0 million (+12.4% y-o-y). Total equity (capital) of insurers at the end of the first half of the year amounted to TJS 875.0 million, having increased by 31.1%, which was mainly supported by an increase in the charter capital of some insurance companies, as well as an increase in retained earnings and reserve capital. Total charter capital of insurers as of June 30, 2026, amounted to TJS 519.0 million, increasing by 1.0% y-o-y.

The total number of contracts concluded in January–June 2026 amounted to 1360.2 thousand units, which is 19.9% ​​more y-o-y.

Total risks accepted for reinsurance as of June 30, 2026, amounted to TJS 113.9 million, which is 3.5% less y-o-y. At the same time, the risks ceded to reinsurance as of the reporting date amounted to TJS 59.0 million, which is 34.3% less than for the same period in 2025. Total premiums ceded to reinsurance within the insurance system as of June 30, 2026, amounted to TJS 29.5 million (-17.8%).

Insurance reserves amounted to TJS 343.8 million in the reporting period; this represents a 32.1% increase y-o-y. The insurance market's net profit for the first half of the year was TJS 122.8 million, up 34.2% from 1H2025.

Profitability of the country's insurance system as of June 30, 2026, stood at 9.0% for return on assets (ROA) and 14.0% for return on equity (ROE); these match the previous year's result and exceed it by 0.3 percentage points, respectively.
