Lloyd's has confirmed on 29 June Dame Inga BEALE's departure. She will step down next year after leading the global insurance and reinsurance market for five years, at a date that will be confirmed in due course.

Loved and equally criticized for her commitment to transformation across the market, and within the Corporation, the first female CEO of Lloyd's acted as a changer and her initiatives led to significant cultural change and the adoption of new technology that has accelerated the market's modernization and digitalization. Meanwhile, the Inclusion@Lloyd's initiative, which she founded in 2013 and is celebrated via the annual Dive In festival, has embedded diversity and inclusion as a business imperative across the global insurance sector.

Inga BEALE "will leave Lloyd's with a strengthened reputation as one of the most respected and trusted insurance brands in the world, with a strong and experienced leadership team focused on delivering Lloyd's strategic priorities," Lloyd's press release stated.

Commenting on her departure, Inga Beale said: "The decision to leave has been a tough one and when the time comes I will miss the energy, innovative spirit and expertise that I come across every working day. Leading Lloyd's is an honor and I am proud to have played a part in ensuring that it remains relevant and fit for purpose for the future. The world trusts Lloyd's to be there when it matters the most and I believe it is well placed for the next 330 years." She also stated for media that she "would like another executive position before it's time to retire or to go plural", but for time being she doesn't know where this position would be.
