The insurance market of Ukraine in 1H2025 grew by 37.32% to UAH 33.24 billion (EUR 681.53 million), including life insurance (UAH 2.76 billion), and non-life insurance (UAH 30.48 billion), as data published by the National Bank (NBU) show.

This rapid growth of the market was supported by a rise in tariffs and premiums in MTPL, there was also a y-o-y increase in Motor Hull, medical and property insurance.

Non-life insurance grew by 41.32%, amounting to UAH 30.48 billion. The main growth driver was compulsory motor third party liability insurance, which increased significantly due to a rise in the cost of policies after transition to free pricing.

At the same time, life insurance growth was quite modest (+4.68%). In general, the insurers remained stable, and the sector was profitable. It is worth noting that life insurers' paid claims grew faster than in non-life insurance.

Total assets of insurers reached UAH 81.6 billion. Non-life insurers' assets grew by 16% y-o-y, and life insurance assets rose by 12%, according to the Insurance TOP magazine, citing NBU data.

In 1H2025, non-life insurers' net profit amounted to UAH 1.9 billion, which is one third more than last year. Return on equity (ROE) increased to 10%. At the same time, profit of life insurers halved to UAH 0.45 billion due to a significant decrease in the financial result of the largest insurer. Concentration of the insurance sector by assets remained stable, only in the life segment the share of the largest insurer exceeded 50%.

In non-life insurance, TAS Group is the leader in terms of GWP (11.34% market share), followed by ARX and UNIQA. At the same time, in life insurance, MetLife occupies over 51% of the market.
