STATISTICS:  UZBEKISTAN, 1H2026: The market sees a rise in GWP, paid claims, number of policies and charter capital

Uzbekistan's insurance sector grew by 28.63% y-o-y in the first half of 2026, reaching a total of UZS 8.02 trillion (EUR 583.07 million). Total paid claims amounted to UZS 2.25 trillion (EUR 163.80 million), which is 80.91% more y-o-y in local currency, according to data published by the National Agency for Prospective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NAPP).

According to the NAPP, key indicators of the Uzbek insurance market recorded growth in the first half of the year: GWP, paid claims, total number of active policies, as well as charter capital of insurance companies.

Over the six-month period, the number of active insurance policies reached 13.1 million units, up 14.9% on the year. Total charter capital of insurance companies rose by 37.2%, reaching UZS 4.3 trillion. Total insurance liabilities reached UZS 4,421.3 trillion, exceeding 1H2025 by 48.4%.

In the first half of 2026, 35 insurance companies were operating in the Uzbek market. Of these, 27 operated in non-life insurance, 7 – in life insurance, and one company engaged exclusively in reinsurance.

Apex Insurance remains the leader in the non-life insurance sector (UZS 2.07 trillion), followed by O'zbekinvest (UZS 934.62 billion), while Kafolat Sug'urta Kompaniyasi has risen to third place (UZS 829 billion). In life insurance, Apex Life Insurance maintains an undisputed lead with a market share of 77.71%.
