The insurance market of Uzbekistan saw strong growth from January to March 2026: GWP rose by 52.71% year-on-year to UZS 4.01 trillion (EUR 286.19 million), according to data published by the National Agency for Prospective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Non-life insurance continues to generate the bulk of premiums, with its market share increasing to 96.32%. At the same time, the share of life insurance dropped from 6.53% the year before to 3.68%.
Total paid claims in the market increased by 30.23% to UZS 838.18 billion (EUR 59.72 million).
Apex Insurance remains the leader in non-life insurance (UZS 1.03 trillion), followed by O'zbekinvest (UZS 412.54 billion) and Kafolat Sugurta Kompaniyasi (UZS 406.58 billion). In the life insurance segment, Apex Life Insurance holds the undisputed lead with a share of 86.24%.
The insurers' total charter capital increased by 31.9%, reaching approximately UZS 3.99 trillion. At the same time, the agency network expanded significantly: the number of insurance agents grew by 64.5%. Total insurance liabilities increased by 58.8% to UZS 4.41 trillion. Life insurance liabilities rose particularly sharply—more than tenfold: from UZS 42.8 billion to UZS 517.0 billion.
Total investments of the insurance sector increased by 42.6% over the year, reaching UZS 10.33 trillion. The structure of the investment portfolio underwent significant changes: the share of bank deposits decreased slightly, from 69.2% to 65.3%, while real estate investments nearly tripled in absolute terms, from UZS 562 billion to UZS 1.67 trillion, increasing their share from 7.8% to 16.2%.
