AZERBAIJAN: In January-July, GWP rise by 7.3%, while paid claims increase by nearly 27%

According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, insurance companies operating in the country collected premiums totaling AZN 1,006.4 million (~EUR 514.41 million) in January–July, which is 7.3% more y-o-y, according to Trend. Meanwhile, paid claims reached AZN 671.4 million, representing a y-o-y increase of 26.9%, the Central Bank stated.

Life insurance GWP totaled AZN 580 million (up 9.2%). Of this amount, AZN 542.1 million came from voluntary life insurance, and AZN 37.9 million - from mandatory life insurance.

At the same time, non-life insurance reached AZN 426.4 million (up 4.9%). Voluntary non-life classes generated AZN 280.9 million of this total, while mandatory non-life insurance contributed AZN 145.5 million.

In January–July, Azerbaijani insurance companies paid AZN 671.4 million (+26.9%) in claims (~EUR 343.18 million).

Life insurance paid claims amounted to AZN 495.7 million (+31.8%); of this, insurers paid AZN 493.7 million for voluntary life insurance and AZN 2 million – for mandatory life insurance.

Non-life insurance paid claims reached AZN 175.7 million (+14.6%). Of this amount, insurers paid AZN 82.5 million for voluntary insurance, and AZN 93.2 million – for mandatory non-life claims, the source reports.
