UZBEKISTAN: GROSS records a fourfold increase in reinsurance volumes in 1H2024

GROSS insurance company is expanding its partnerships with global insurance companies and brokers. Currently, GROSS cooperates with 79 countries in the global insurance market. In 1H2024, the volume of reinsurance accepted by GROSS from foreign companies increased to 392% y-o-y, Gazeta.uz writes.

“The fourfold increase in reinsurance volumes accepted by GROSS from abroad show the company's significant achievements. Firstly, establishment of strong partnerships with leading global brokers emphasizes GROSS's compliance with international standards and requirements. The second important point is that the significant increase in the volume of reinsurance contracts reflects our desire to diversify risks and optimize the insurance portfolio”, says Otabek Nazarov, Chairman of the Board of GROSS.

It is noted that GROSS's income from insurance services increased by 167% and amounted to UZS 140.8 billion (~EUR 10.46 million) for the first six months of 2024. Over three years, the number of concluded contracts increased by 125%, under which the company assumed obligations for a total of UZS 227.7 trillion (an increase of 171%).

GROSS currently occupies 6.3% of the insurance market in Uzbekistan (in 2023 - 5.6%), and is among the TOP-5 non-life insurers (according to the 1Q2024 results). The size of the company's charter capital reached UZS 70 billion (~EUR 5.20 million).
