MDL one billion (EUR 61.4 million) wrote in premiums the Moldavian insurers in 2011, 9.7% more than a year earlier, according to the preliminary financial data centralized by the National Commission of Financial Market (NCFM). Claims reached MDL 334 million (EUR 20.45 million), a 3.5% increase in comparison to 2010.

According to the preliminary data submitted by NCFM, MTPL insurance generated MDL 228 million in premiums, or 22.7% of the market. At the same time, Green Card totalized MDL 189 million, equivalent of 18.8% of the total market.

Regarding claims, the companies have paid claims totaling MDL 85.95 million - MTPL, respectively MDL 59 million - Green Card. MTPL and Green Card, summed, made up to 43.4% of the total claims value.

Compared to 2010, in 2011 the market hierarchy has not undergone major changes, MOLDASIG (28.1% market share), ASITO (15.6%), GRAWE CARAT Asigurari (11.5%), MOLDCARGO and DONARIS GROUP being the first 5 insurers on the Moldavian market

The insurance concentration by total gross written premium of the top 5 insurance companies reached 73%, while insurance portfolio concentration of the top 10 insurance companies represented 91%.
