In the first half of 2026, the Belarusian insurance sector generated BYN 1,554.82 million (EUR 469.11 million), which is 9.90% more y-o-y, according to data published by the Ministry of Finance. It is noteworthy that market growth in European currency was in the double digits.
Non-life insurance generates 88% of all premiums, while life insurance accounting for approximately 12%.
The largest insurance classes, each holding a double-digit market share, are property insurance, medical expenses insurance, MTPL, and insurance against accidents at work and occupational diseases. Among these classes, only property insurance saw a decline (-0.54%) in local currency in the reporting period.
Total paid claims rose by 10.09% in the first half of the year, reaching BYN 874.52 million (EUR 263.85 million). Life paid claims fell by nearly 18% y-o-y, whereas non-life paid claims increased by approximately 15%.
