Belarus: The profile market grew with 39% in the first five months of 2011
belarus2During January - May of 2011, the insurance companies in Belarus underwrote premiums worth BYR 693.66 billion (EUR 97.60 million), about 39% higher than the similar time of 2010 (BYR 500.91 billion - EUR 70.48 million).

Altogether, in the first five months of 2011, insurers paid claims of BYR 416.53 billion (EUR 58.61 million), 40% higher than in the similar period of 2010 (BYR 269.85 billion - EUR 41.77 million), according to the data published by the Insurance Supervisory Committee within the Ministry of Finance.

On insurance classes, gross written premiums on the voluntary insurance segment rose to BYR 347.7 billion (EUR 48.93 million), higher by BYR 91.7 billion (EUR 12.90 million) if reported to the similar time of 2010. The ratio of the voluntary insurance segment in the overall market has been 49.9% in the first five months, in comparison with 48.9% in 2010.

In the first five months of 2010, insurers transferred towards the state budget a sum of BYR 60.0 billion - EUR 8.44 million.

On the general insurance segment, the leader of the market is still BELGOSSTRAKH, with underwritings worth BYR 366.70 billion (EUR 51.60 million), followed by TASK - BYR 56.29 billion (EUR 7.92 million) and PROMTRANSINVEST - BYR 40.29 billion (EUR 5.67 million).

Out of the four companies activating on the life insurance segment, the first position is held by STRAVITA - BYR 29.87 billion (EUR 4.20 million), followed by National Belarusian Fund - BYR 6.76 billion (EUR 951.500) and SEDYMAIA LINYA - BYR 2.26 billion (EUR 318.400).
